Cicis’ History
The first Cicis location was in Plano, Texas. The founders Joe Croce and Mike Cole opened it in 1985. The chain rapidly expanded from the start with 363 restaurants by 2001, and over 500 restaurants by 2005.
Croce retired from the business in 2003 and an executive group headed by then Dallas General Manager Craig More, who later became president until 2009. The current CEO of Cici’s Pizza is Darin Harris.
In 2015 the company began efforts to rebrand the chain, emphasizing that the restaurant offers much more than pizza. In addition, the name of the chain was changed from CiCi’s Pizza to simply Cicis. As of 2015 there were over 500 locations across 35 states.
